this is the tank i got i was telling you guys about for 350 bucks, included all you see except discus of course...

the discus are a little scared just put em in there a little bit ago.

I love your driftwood! SOrry, I know nothing about the wet/dry. I have one suggestion tho... three discus in that huge tank are gonna be skittish and scared. You may want to put a divider in there until you get some more fish.
JMO.

Looks great!!!!!

That tank looks like a major bargain for only $350. You snail is huge! Is it an apple snail or a ramshorn snail?

And yes get some more discus and maybe even some type of tetra species like rummynose, neons, or cardinals.

I'd say you got a deal on the set up for $ 350, I would put some more discus in there, seems like they are going to get nervous with only 3 of them in such a big tank. Nice looking pics.

i have about 25 baby guppies in there with the mom right now and debating on what else i want to put in there.
the snails in there are apple snails, i have a pleco in there too,

i love the discus i have right now...there's actually 5 in there the 3 yellow one's you see i got from cary, then i have 2 pigeon blood. i got some better pics of the pics but i have to load them and try to resize them this time.

KD, Nice looking tank. The sump is sorta setup right, the left side could do with being 'lower', by that I mean more of the bio balls in the water. Is the sponge from an already established filter? If not I'd remove it and put more bio balls or similar. You can put your heaters in the right hand side, it gets them out of the tank and out of sight. I've put a pic of my sump up, you can see mine is 3 chanmbers and a little lower (I had to have it built to fir under a rack, but you can see how most of the media is under water. The other option with the sponge is to have it before the bio balls. The main media in mine is Ehein Substart Pro.

That is one big snail you have there! And I love your discus, they are really nice.

thanks everybody,:D
thanks expecially to paul who helped me recover my sick discus.

Thanks for looking at that wet dry, so i'll need to get more bioballs you think and add them to the bottom where that sponge is? The sponge is not cycled.
or should i try to lower that layer somehow? there on a little plastic shelf.

Your snail is not getting enough calcium. Supplement its food supply....DC

nice setup.... as paul suggests, i'd have about 1/2 of my bio-balls submerged, 1/2 exposed. it appears in the pictures of the sump that there is a black carbon pad just under your initial floss mechanical filter. if its carbon, i'd remove it. otherwise looks very good! thanks for sharing your setup!

*EDIT* sorry, just noticed something else.:) in your pictures showing the discus, they are off hanging in the corner. is this their usual behavior? if so it could be for a couple of reasons...after two weeks they are still acclimitizing, or they dont like it when you take pictures :), or there are not enough of them in the tank for them to feel comfortable, altho five is usually ok

thanks all,
i removed the carbon pad, replaced it with one that has no carbon.
i bought the snails these vegie discs with vitamins, i wondered why the shell looked so weird, hopefully that will help, they really like them anyway
the discus were just put in there when i took the pic, i'm going to get more discus soon.

question about the wet/dry, okay, when i clean it the level rises in the wet/dry, then falls down, but now i've got about 3/4 of my bioballs submerged
how do i get the level down a bit. do i do something with the levels of that box on the inside of the tank where the water goes in, or perhaps the box on the outside where the prefilter sponge thing is...

thanks for all the help.

p.s. the cannister was set up as follows
bottom layer- big black sponge-not carbon just porous sponge
2nd layer from bottom- carbon- i removed it and replaced it with gravel and regular filter type sponge stuff,
3rd and 4th layer ceramic round things and rings
5th layer ceramim round things and rings and a thin sponge on top, not sure what this sponge is, did'nt remove it yet, may be carbon it almost looks like it has small stones in it, i've messed with the tank so much, did'nt want to like totally ruin biological....

Marilyn, with your wet/dry, the way I do it is to work ut the head rom I need if the power fails. If I've understood your setup correctly you have an overflow box on the tank. So if you switch off the return pump how full does the sump get? the difference between this level and the level when the pump is running is the head room you need. You can fill the sump up to a level tht then allows for this head room. Probably not explained that too well... (in a rush as at work!)

Thanks Paul, by the way, I'm kdazzel;) ,

I'm going to print this out. I have like a small box on the inside of the tank, then a small box on the outside of the tank, the water flows in the first box, thru a tube to the one on the outside of the tank. The problem is the water level is too high now. The bioballs are too much in the water now. I don't know why that happened. Also I have it connected to ups because where I'm at, we get power bumps and power outages all the time in the summer

I'd noticed the APC ups, good idea. It can take a bit of juggling to get it just right, in reality though there is a large amount of room for manouvere. The filtration still works even if not optimally setup. So long as the water is reasonably well oxygenated then having all the bio balls submerged will still work well.
