Morning Marie,

The first one is a frog btw :)

The second one is an Electric Blue Cichlid (Sciaenochromis fryeri) and its a male I think.

Both of those discus look to be in poor condition, but the rest of the stock looks good. I like parrots, but they live for a very long time. Rabbits nice in a stew too!

Parrots will outlive humans. You have to put them in your will lol. Goodness.. when we had our 15... my Mom was pretty much going to give them all to me cause I was the only one who helped with them lol. Man was that a job on cage day! OMG! lol But we made it easier by cutting plexiglass and putting that in the bottom of the cages. Easier to clean :D

I know Marie.. but I'd still have to say something. If they get enough complaints.. sometimes they will not carry them anymore.

Larry.. a lipstick parrot is a dyed parrot. They inject dye into them to make the colors. :( Its very sad.

Amber,

<doh!> Nevermind, I thought you were talking about the bird. LoL And I agree, dying any fish is a crime IMO. We have 4 glass fish which were sold as painted glass fish (we bought them when I first started up the aquariums again after a 25 year hiatus). That was a year and a half ago, they are doing fine but I would never do it again (I wouldn't have done it in the first place if I had remembered how it was that they looked that way). But, as I said, they are doing fine, though they have long ago lost their dye, and I did start with 6 of them. They even all had the cancer that they get, but it has cleared up long ago.

The snake.. looks like maybe an albino burmese as you said its huge. And the frogs I believe are Firebellied Toads :) I knew I'd seen them before ;)

I'd never have got the frog, nearest I'd have got was Kermit :) Amber is correct about the parrots, a friend has one that is around 60 years old, an African Grey, it will probably outlive him. My view they are best left in the wild, but thats just me...

Electric Blue's need (or prefer) quite hard water if memory serves, and alkaline too. Nice fish, the females are a sort of grey blue and a bit smaller, they are not too aggressive, but they are still cichlids, not a suitable tankmate for discus though in my view.

Electric blues are africans aren't they.

The parrots.. we had a hyacinth, 3 mocluccans, 1 umbrella, 2 scarlets and a bunch of lovebirds and parakeets. But my little sister developed allergies to dust mites.. and well.. they live in bird feathers.. and we had quite a lot of feathers around lol.
Now all I've got is two cockatiels. We had to find all those parrots new homes. :( But I guess my sister is more important lol ;)

Amber,
Yep,they're from Lake Malawi. Back in the '70s I used to breed them. It was quite lucrative at the time... and then everyone discovered how easy they are to breed (the few just HAVE to screw it up the the rest of us <grin>). Hard, high pH water is what they prefer, but just like discus, they can now withstand most any water parameters, as long as it's clean.

I am going to guess that the snake is an albino python. It may be a "ball" python--or maybe one of the bigger growing species!

The tortoise(bulldozer) is an african spurred tortoise, Geochelone sulcata. It's the third largest tortoise in the world(after the Galapagos and the Aldabran), and is rapidly replacing the green iguana as the "throw-away pet" of the decade. Pet shops and herp expos sell cute little hatchlings for under 50 bucks and tell you they'll be fine in an aquarium and fed lettuce....NOT!
Later, when the golf-ball-sized cutie turns into a basketball-sized, door-busting, cr*pping monster, all lumpy because they fed it all the wrong stuff, they show up in shelters because their owners can't deal with 'em anymore.

I have one, a 50-pounder(and growing!) that I adopted from a rescue in New York. This guy eats from my hand(heck, even tries to eat my hand LOL) and lives out in my yard(gotta love the tropics heheheh), where he is doing his best to dig his way to China. GUess I better start teaching him Cantonese...:D

Nice Sulcata. I got a couple Russians(Dah!) hoping they have babies some day.
