Just wondering how popular these are at the moment. I think spotted fish like leopards would be more popular at the moment but just curious as I saw this pair for sale:

They look alot like white butterflies and as such, the demand has been rekindled lately. For a while no one wanted them or sold them...now they are back..

Personally they are on my "get list":)

What are good fish to cross with these? As they seem to have a white base I thought leopard cross or red spot teffe green might be nice. Any ones that shouldn't be crossed with them?

They are pigeon based. Crossing with discus that carry stress bars (like leopards and RSG) will produce peppered fry. Crossing with white eyed, white based fish will produce all white eyed/white based fish in first generation.

I would breed with another white pigeon or blue diamond.

Thanks Caryl for taking the time to reply.

How about a Red Melon? I do want to avoid really peppered fish, although I did see one recently so peppered it was totally black in places, that looked quite neat. I heard there's secret talk in Asia of a totally black discus?

I haven't seen any decent white based fish in Australia for a long time, seems like they are a fish that is not popular here either.

Luca,

I not an expert and to me this fish have the same look has blue pigeon. I'M not saying it is a blue pigeon I say they look similar to my eyes. I know many different name are use to name same familly of fish.

Blue pigeon are also very very popular just like White Butterfly. This is because most of the old Discus keeper I know do have popular strain like Blue Diamond, RT, Marleboro, etc... but not those strains. They lack of nice one in ther thank ;)
