Hello all, I need some opinions please. I have a 180 gallon tank with 13 adults in it with 6 sponge filters and a 125 gallon with 11 adults as well as 2 sponge filters and an aquaclear 500 (the biggest one). Both tanks are running great but my question is this. I need to move the 125 and am thinking of moving all the fish from 125 and the filters and putting in the 180 temporarily. Should the filtration stay the same since I am combining the stocking level as well as the filtering capacity of should I be on the lookout for the need to WC more often. Any help and opinions would be great. Thanks

I would up the water changes with 24 adults in one tank...is it bare bottom? As long as you step up the water changes and it is only temporary they should be alright.

you should be fine if you use all the filters from both tanks on one once you combine the livestock

I agree with both Joe and Tim. While you should be fine since you are also combining your filters, I would still up the wc's just to "play it safe".

Slam dunk...If you transfer the filters they will handle the bioload...but your nitrates are going to rise much faster from the increased load. Up the WCs...;)

Thanks for the replies. It is a bare bottom tank. Do you think that 75% wc per night would be enough ? Thanks

More than enough
