This tank has the strangest things goin in I swear!

Marie is soon to be a Discus breeder. You need to find more tanks soon!!! Your tank and fish look great!! Verrrrrrry healthy and clean. That is a great closeup shot on the PB ;) .

start looking for some cleaning going on with them. In my pair, the male seems to pick the final spot. Dunno if that is how it always goes.

Also, I noticed 2 rams in the cavelike rocks area below the discus. If they usually hang out there, you may have some aggression when one pair or the other get ready to lay.

My pair finally laid on a driftwood this week as opposed to my heater. I had a bunch of eggs, heavily guarded by both parents. I noticed they werent bothering my ram pair that normally hung out near there.

Well, needless to say, 2 days after laying, the ram pair were tag teaming the discus to get the discus to leave the site. As one parent would chase one, another ram got the remaining parent to chase. This left the FIRST ram to go back and eat 2-3 eggs. This lasted until ALL the eggs were gone.

If you get serious about wanting to raise the fry, you may have to watch those rams!!!!

Kathi, here's a link that shows many different discus strains. Keep in mind that the names/info are a little outdated but nonetheless should give you a little idea in regards to color strains of discus. Take a look friend.

Hi Kathi - you're most welcome. IMO that's no easy answer on that one lol. Even same strain of discus(e.g. BD) coming from different breeders/lines will have variation to some degree. If you're looking for a particular color/strain it's best to ask around ppl who have had that strain, or gather more info by asking the breeder/importer directly...seeing pics might help too. Sorry I couldn't be of much help here Kathi.

Back to your pair Marie. Looking at the pics it seems like spawning is imminent. Get ready for some action after eggs are laid. They should defend that area like there's no tomo lol. (I'm gonna have to call Marie later to make up for the hi-jack! (j/k friend))
