How many times are these guys going to keep laying their eggs on the return to my eheim filter? I don't think they will ever hatch there?

Also here are some cool pics - hot off the press - the female RS is fighting with the female BD while the BD is trying to lay her eggs.

Please don't get me wrong. I don't think fighting is so great, but this is the first sigh I have ever seen of outright aggression and I have had these guys for almost 2 months. I think that the RS is jealous of the BD and does not want the BD to lay eggs in the tank at all.

Hope this won't turn out to be a problem?

There will always be some kind of action between discus. They are cichlids :D
Do you have any other breeding surfaces for them like a cone, pot, brick, etc? If you put something in there, they will most likely lay eggs on it instead of the intake. If not, move the filter to the other side to break up their tradition. Mike

Wrap some chicken wire around it. I have some pairs that lay on the heater itself and I'll just move it clear to the top of the tank if I see them picking at it. You just have to outmanuver the little sob's!

what I don't get is that I have 4 nice rocks they could use. In fact the RS used one of the rocks for her first egg attempt. If you will re-look at the last 2 pictures you will see the top 1/2 of the rocks. They are 10" - 12" tall.
Maybe I should buy some cones?

Those rocks look a little coarse, yes, get a smoother breeding surface.

I agree, get a cone and cover anything you don't want them to spawn on...but remember lots of them also spawn on the glass...

Good luck

Mickey,

You can position an airstone in front of the area they keep cleaning as well should that be easier.
