JUDI!!!! I love them! Are they Altums? Have they been hard to keep?
I have always wanted a few of them. Can you mix them with regular angelfish? My 75-gal needs a few more angels! Hard to find altums locally.

Hi Audrey,

Yes... the are Altums. We haven't found them difficult to keep. We have a tank of domestic angels as well... but have never mixed them. We keep the domestics in straight tap, but use an RO mix for the Altums.

BTW... the Altums get almost as big as the discus!!

Hi Judi - beautiful Altums and Heckels! I've seen some of those Altums at Herman's place before (Fairy Lake Discus) and Herman said the same thing about them being much harder to keep/breed than domestic angels. But yours look real good under your TLC!

Oh I didn't know Al had Heckles? Hmm...time for an inqiury I guess...:D

Kenny... it seems I remember seeing some at Herman's too. We had also heard how "difficult" they were to keep, but that sure hasn't been our experience. We don't do anything different from the other fish, other than the water parms. The same RO mix is used for both the Heckels and the Altums.

Do they get along pretty good together???

You'll be happy you did, Brian! Since these pics were taken, the heckels and altums have been moved into the same tank. They do great together!

The Heckels are looking good too! I've really enjoyed my Heckels from Al. They've been some of the toughest fish I've ever owned.

Brian... they get flake, CBW and frozen bloodworms.

Ryan... I had forgotten that you were here shortly after we got those. You're right... they have grown a ton!

Hi Kidnick... I think Jeep was referring to Heckels, rather than angels. But I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong. :o

Yes, I was refering to the Blue Faced Heckels. I like heckels, but the blues are exquisite!!! They are in my future ;)
