Hi, just wanted to drop in and say hello. I guess I should start with a little background. My father used to keep fish when I was a little girl and I remember he had rows and rows or tanks in the fishroom where he was breeding mollies and guppies. For me it started a little more than ten years ago when my daughter brought home a little rosy barb from school. Now I have seven tanks, six of them are freshwater and one of them is a saltwater reef.

The tank I have set up right now for my discus is a 46 gallon fully planted and fully established aquarium. I have 5 discus in there which I just brought home last week. They are the most beautiful freshwater fish I have ever had and I want to make sure that I take really good care of them. I had discus before but two months ago my heater malfuntioned and raised the temperature in the tank to 110 degrees! Needless to say I lost everything in the tank. It was a very sad day. Since then, I ordered some new discus from a breeder and like I said I just got them home last Thursday night. They are all healthy and happy, moving around all over thier tank exploring thier new home.Eventually, I would like to move them to a bigger aquarium such as a 125 or larger whatever I can talk my husband into.

I'm sure to have a lot of questions so please be patient with me. I want to do this right to insure the well being of my new discus and give them the perfect enviroment to thrive in.

Well, I guess that's enough about me for now. Talk to you in the forums.

Yes, welcome marinemom, but you've already broken your first rule in this forum. You can't say you just got some new fish and then not post any pictures of them. We can let it slide this time since you're new, but now you've been warned.

My fish hate the cameras too. I wait til it's dark, than turn off all the lights in the room and leave their tank light on. I slowly creep up to the tank and out of curiousity they'll meet me at the front. I start snapping pics. I can't do this during the day. They are more skittish and the light reflection is killer.

Oh..almost forgot.. welcome to the board.

I tried what you said but the pictures did not come out as well as I wanted them too. The camera does something to thier eyes and I don't know how to correct it. Also, I think my blue discus look too dark in these pictures. In reality they are not this dark. Here are some pictures of my new discus. I still can't get them all in the picture at the same time. O.K. so here they are. I will try to get better pictures sometime soon.
