Cover the heater ?

My heater is black .. Someone suggested to cover the sponge filter with white pantyhose. Should I do the same to the heater ?

I have a clear see-through arcylic 40 gallon tank. should I cover all sides with white paper or blue background paper ? I have a bare-bottom tank and I place a blue background paper at the bottom of the tank.

Some heaters get very hot, doubt it would be hot enough to melt the pantyhose but... better to get a clear glass heater imo, can often do away with heaters in breeder tanks if room temp is around 82 then its perfect.

I would certainly cover the bottom and back of the tank with very pale coloured backing, pale blue, pink, lavender sdoesn't matter as long as it is very pale. (White works too!). If you want to cover 2 other side then do so too, I have had a pair that would not spawn in a tank with covered sides, remove the side covers and no probs. This is definitely not the norm though :)
