When does everyone do their WC?
And why?

You can select multiple responses so check all that apply.

I do any water changes last thing before lights out so that any nasties don't sit in there all night. I do it while the lights are on so I can see what I'm doing.

I do it when I get home from work. I need to do it soon after I get home, before dinner, or exhaustion sets in and it becomes a chore. If I have a ton of fry I change before work (before sun up) too.

Typically I start right before lights-out and finish after lights-out.

I always do wc's as early as possible. I use tap so if there is a problem I can take care of it quickly. This means, the fish get their morning food, then wc, then cbw. CBW because they know they get it after a wc and it keeps them calm knowing.

I usually do mine just after dinner. About the only time of day I have time, and it coincedentally lets me get all the gunk out of the tank before lights out. I like to get done before lights out just in case there's any bad reaction to the new water, but sometimes I run late and the lights go out before the tanks full

I do mine in the a.m. after lights are on. I like the morning w/c so I can enjoy the tank the rest of the day. I found when I was doing it later in the day, I dreaded looking at the tank knowing I still had to do a water change.

I do mine just before my dinner, which is one hour after theirs. They always get BH for dinner, then no feeding till morning. If there are fry or juvies, they get a wc just after their first meal of the day (BH again) and another with the adults in the evening.

P.S. I never do wc before lights on. It's too dangerous!!!!

Most often evenings before lights out. I leave for work before 6am and don't normally get back until 20:00pm. do them after/during supper (already missed dinner, but the dogs enjoyed it :)).

Fry tank is done in the morning, show tank in the evening, breeding tank in the morning.

I do them after lights on and after lights off, as the lights come on before I get up and go off after I go to bed!

The show tank takes the longest, so I do it in the evening when time is more open ended.

I either do mine early morning or late night.I use straight tap water and the water doesn't seem to be as hot at those times. At this time of year the water is warm coming out of the cold side. If I ever get fry again I do those 2 to 3 times a day and that works around my work schedule. So if I do them at night it is usually around midnight.

I have a 2 part answer. I do a wc on all tanks before work each morning and then a second wc on about half the tanks(discus 2 inch or less) in the late evening. That second change is hard to get motivated for sometimes but I generally get er done!

Typically I do a water change 1 hour before the lights go out. This allows me to clean of any uneaten food from the last and final feeding.

Andrew gets up about 4:30 to get everyone awake. Feeds BH to all tanks except 3 adult tanks. Start wc's then I take over about 6:15. Finish grow out tanks and then start breeders. Evening: all tanks except the adults that got the morning change. We do this because our adult discus only get 1 wc per day and they normally get about a 80% change. We do some in the morning and the others at night on adults. Not enough water. lol

Most of the time I do my water changes at night an hour or two before the lights go out and after the last feeding of the day.
