Sweet setup. It looks like it's partitioned in the middle? 2 tanks with a custom cabinet? Tell us more.

hi thanks for the comments , yes it is 2 tanks the stand it sits on is 8 foot long the top lid is 8 foot long so it gives it an impression of being 1. 8 foot tank but it is 2 . 4 foot tanks i had custom made. tanks are 2 foot high and 20inches depth with qtr plate glass cant remember how much water they hold but i had to reinforce the floor as it was made of wood dug up the house foundations and built brick walls and filled the space with sand and cement i have 12 discus at the moment but i am looking to find some more not so easy to find good discus here in the uk i live in the south of england and all the good discus breeders seem to be up north ........unless you can tell me of any in my neck of the woods will post some pics of my fish when i get a chance :bandana:

Your tanks are just a smidge under 100 gallons each, which is the outside measurement, meaning they probably hold 85-90 gallons of water each. That's a very nice looking setup, I especially like your choice of driftwood.

Larry

btw Width x Height x Depth divided by 231 gives you volume in gallons

48 x 20 x 24 = 23040 /231 = 99.744

Hi Rodger
think i've seen this set-up somewhere before...am i right in guessing the cabinet was made by mns-designs here in the UK...sure neils got a pic in his gallery,he's just built one for myself a modest 6ft he's sure got a talent with
wood will try and post pics when its all set up...as to fish Jeffs bang on the
money recomending Mr.Evende(a true gent)also if youre into Asian fish try
Francis from www.chensdiscus.co.uk he delivers personally and has some
realy first class stock....BRILLIANT SETUP!

hi amh1 yes it was built by him but let me tell you the finish was very poor it was varnished when it arrived here it was coverd in saw dust yes he did do a great job of building it but you check your finish i will get round to sanding it down one day ........but i should not have to considering what i paid for it ........ sorry about the moan lol:)

Hey! Roger
Youv'e every right...you paid good money for a piece of furniture right?
I took delivery of mine Un-finished...but still had to refill some pin holes
etc....but if mine was covered in saw-dust&sealed then it would of went
Back...mind you Roger i'm a little closer than you to his unit(20miles) so
can understand youre situation on that one...(well if you want a job doing
right) as they say!....Anyway it still looks stunning,If mine turns out 75%
as nice as yours I'll be a happy camper...If anyone asks about the sealed
sawdust tell them its a new designer finish!....that'll throw em!
Best wishes..Stay safe!

Wow, nice set up!

OK now for my questions :)

What type of lighting are you using and what type of plants do you have in there :).

Also, I see platies, swords, gourami, some apistos and rams in there with your discus? Everybody getting along? They look really healthy though! What temperatures do you have your tanks at?

I really like the layout and I love that driftwood! Wish I could find a nice large centerpiece like that one!

hi tina thanks for the complements, well i use t8 tubes one is for plant growth the other is to show the color of the fish i got all the wood from maidenhead aquatics in east grinsted (south of england) was imported from the amazon i am told . where are you from? there are 4 large bits in each tank(dont ask what it cost me $$$$$£££££*** lol) but it does look good i also have a large chunk of granite in there all the fish get on ok but i am slowly replacing the fish with discus as they pass on but i have a 7" picktus cat fish in there he is no bother at all(keep him well fed though) and there is a bristlenose and a clownplec as well .i did wonder how i would get on with a mixture of fish but it has all worked out well as you see the other tank is a mixed tank as well. still looking for more discus but had good advice on where to go (see posts above) thanks every one for your kind advice and words..........roger :bandana:
