I certainly have more fun watching my juvies swim around instead of my adults. They are certainly more entertaining and move around a lot. There for my pictures came out blurry. About 6 weeks ago I bought 6 discues 4 BDs and 1 Cobalt or Turq and 1 RedSnakeskin.

I'm only posting pics of my favorite two fish out of the bunch and I just wanted your folks' unedited comments. I'm thick skinned so harsh comments wouldn't bother me at all.

First up is bulldog.. I really don't know if he is one or not but his high body profile leads me to believe he might be.. what do you think??

Second is my ambigous fish..I don't know if it's a cobalt or turq. It was sold to me as a cobalt but his colorations seem to be developing into turq..I just don't know.. Can you tell at this early age. He's already starting to develop a checkerboard pattern on his tail fin.

Note the color background..Bubbles this is for you.. It's perrywinkle or it at least looked like it before I attached to the back of the tank. The glass and light and water wash out the colors and it just doesn't look so nice.

And for the fish that didn't make it..I just had to eat them. I don't like to put anything to waste.

THanks for the great pics. I recognize the mahi mahi, but what is the other fish, a type of tuna??

Looks like a yellow fin.

Not sure if the 1st fish is a bulldog or not .... but looks to have great shape for such a young fish..... but the eys look pretty big ... might just be the pic tho.

Your second fish looks like it might be a blue turk?? Just a guess from a rookie tho......... definately not a cobalt IMO.

My husband and I were watching a program on Discovery the other day, this guy was skin fishing and catching Mahi and there were sharks everywhere trying to steal his fish! The man was crazy!
My own experience with Mahi is a friend of ours caught one when we lived in Hawaii and he brought it to my house.. and chopped it up in our kitchen sink.. blood spattered onto my little sisters face, she and I were both gagging and my parents ate it raw! EWWWWW! (With hot mustard of course!)
I do not eat seafood.. just so you guys know :) But my daughters were eating calamari the other day! lol

I agree the second discus looks like a turq! Congrats on your new fish and your catch!

Thanks All..Second fish is a Yellow Tail, closer to the Jack family than Tuna family. Good guess Cage. I'm suspecting my second fish is a turq and is a bit too much colored for its size. W/ some TLC I'll see how far I can take him.

What happened to Jeep's reply? Jeep did you remove it? I thought your comments were correct. I think the turq has too much color too. He's also the fastest growing one too.

I had some sashimi with the yellow tail, and fried up the mahi mahi in bread crumbs. Mahimahi is an exotic catch for us here in San Diego they are typically a lot farther south.

Sorry, I guess I was editing my post and did it wrong :o

I think I said I wasn't sure about the Bulldog thing... a BD of some sort, and the 2nd looks like a Turk that is older than its size would lead you to believe :)
