We'll if you guys say my other post about my white peacocks showing "spawning behavior" it actually was because they layed eggs on the slate but a i have a few questions...Do i turn off the lights on the fish tank during the night time or do i leave them on? Also how many days until they hatch if they are fertile? And do i lower the water level to where the eggs are?

takes about 48 hours or so to see if they are fertile. lower water level once they are free-swimming to aid in finding mom and dad. many, if not most, breeders leave a light on to assist parents in taking care of eggs/fry

let us know in a day or so (after 48 hrs) if the eggs are still viable. then you will know if you have a pair.

good luck!

it takes the eggs 50 - 60 hours to hatch. The wrigglers will require another 2 - 3 days before becoming free swimming. Water changes can resume when the spawn hatches to produce wrigglers. good luck and keep us posted

After day 1 they are still nice and "fertile looking" and the female is fanning the eggs still, she isnt eating much anymore either

After 48 hrs, if the eggs turn dark, then you have a confirm pair.

I wouldn't lower the water level unless the fry have a hard time finding the parents. The less you do is better. I would cover the sponge with something white so the fry don't try to attach to it. Leave a light on the tank (over head) so that the parents stay focused with them. Once eggs are layed it takes 48-55 hours to hatch to wigglers. Another 50+- hours for them to start free swimming.
