My pair is about 8 to 10 months old. They started pairing up and spawning a month ago. This is their 5th spawn already. Seems like the female can spawn as quick as every 5 days. Is this normal ? How long can a discus fish live ? or what is their breeding age cycle ?

I am not complaining .. but just seems like this pair (my first and only pair) are so aggressive at spawning ... not even funny ...

Usually 7 - 14 days. Younger females spawn more quickly - older ones go longer between clutches.

There are so many variables in this. Sometimes my discus spawn like clockwork and other times there are months where I get nothing. I really think the weather along with water parameters make a difference.

Mine are about 9-10 months and have also been spawning every 5 days but unfortunately the eggs are turning white and being eaten within 24 hours.

So when do they spawn in the wild?

I'm curious, becase zebra plecos spawn during rainy season, so zebra pleco breeders simulate rainy season, by several large water changes in slightly cooler water and sometimes use a flash on a camera to simulate lightning.

I'd say in my personal experience, if you have a frisky pair, and do a substantial waterchange with some cooler water... better watch out... Party time!
