I've never been to an ACA event. All the fish look round and healthy, but I was surprised to see peppering on some of the PB. Perhaps due to the stress of the event?

Ed, I found a group from Puerto Rico. I think there were seven of them . An older lady , her husband and some younger kids. I had a long talk with some of the young ones about tha island and how things were doing down there. It was fun. You should try to make plans to attend Sacramento next year.

Roberto I know the group there from

You probably talked to Nane and her sons. I respect her VERY much haven't met anyone that could challenge her with African cichlids yet.

The fish club is to much into bettas, killifish and Africans for my taste, that's why I prefer Simply. Hopefully I'll change that in the future.http://forum.simplydiscus.com//showthread.php?t=52612

You know something, I'll really make an effort to go to Sacramento next year. I've never been higher than Kissimmee in Florida so it'll be an adventure.

So which ones in those pictures won? Or are those pictures of the winners?

I assumed they were all winners, that's why I was surprised by the pepper.
Good question Tina, maybe bz79 can elaborate a bit.

I was surprised by the peppering as well.

Some of the Discus were setup in the main show room and others were being sold or displayed by the breeders or importers in other area's of the hotel. For example the 2nd picture is of a 'Fire Red' from Han's Discus it wasn't in the main showroom, it was in the Hans/Stendker room on a lower level of the hotel.

BTW these are photo's I took so that's why there are not any of the winners posted here...because I didn't post them. Though I might have them around, I'd have to go thru all the photo's and look and match them up to the winners. :)

And here I've been super critical of any of my young fish showing any peppering as not being good enough for an ACA!

bz79, all of the fish look round and big, when you are looking through the pics could you check if some have something for size reference. Any pic showing them head on might be good also, I'm curios as to the thickness of the fish

I don't have any head on shots but the big guy I just posted in this response (see photo below) was without a doubt the largest discus at the show that I saw. He was like a dinner plate! The photo is smaller than actual size and, I'm guessing he was about 11"+ head to tail.
When he did turn and face me, he (or she I guess, I can't tell) was very thick. Perhaps 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" thick...give or take a few 1/8th's
