Hi,
Finaly setting up my new 72 gallon bowfront tank.

Back to the begining, I built a stand for it.

So to continue:

I drilled 2 holes in the stand top to alow for the over flow system. Oh yes, this is being set up in my bedroom on the second floor of the house. I make/blend the water for the Discus in the basement, so that would meen carring 25 gallons fof water up 2 flights of stairs every week, so I ran 2 hoses up the heating vent. A garden hose for draining and a 3/8th hose for new water pumped up from the mixing barrel.

This picture shows the flow rate for water changes.

Well, I got some work done today.
Hung the power strip. Put in the hooks for the light power supplies. Set up one of the 130 watt lights.

I had to cut the inner flange of the top frame a little to accomadate the 2 very old but trusted heaters

Wednesday will be the big move.

Here is what 4 hours mixing water and moving gravel and plants has done.

Your carpet looks really nice. Be sure to lay down some towels when you do water changes. Wouldn't want to get your carpet wet all the time, water stains might start to show.

I can do water change with the flip of a switch. My R/O mixing barrow is in the basement and the tank is on the second floor ( 22 feet up). I punp the water up and have an over flow that drains down through a garden hose.

As much as I need exersize, there was now way I was doing to carry 25 gallons of water up 2 flight of stairs each week.

I found a deficiency with my tank stand. It could use a towel rack on the side. I'll be making one to match the wood and stain.

I'm calling this project complete ( the project of building the aquarium stand ).
As with most of my first time build projects, there are thing I would have designed differently/better but I usually find out about deficiencies too late to change. To answer the question about putting on doors, No I don’t think I’ll be able to put doors on that I would like. I may put on some curtains thou.

That is an excellent idea. I think I'm going to put one on the side of my cabinet. Never thought of that!
