If my fishes had hex could I see it in the feces? If I collect the feces in the bottom of the tank and then look at it under a microscope, will I see it. 100X with immersion oil, is it enough to see it ?? The scope at my job is 100X maximum

Thanks
Remi

Hi Remi,
You need a magnification of 200-400X .

They are generallly seen in squashes done of the Intestine.
This info is from...

an excellent article that we have in our library courtesy of the University of Florida, Cooperative extension.

I'd guess in a bad infection you may be able to see it in the feces if you catch it fresh.

If you have 100X with an immersion oil objective lens, chances are this is a compound microscope with a 10X ocular lens, as well. Thus your total maximum magnification would be 1000X (100X x 10X).

You may have other objective lenses for 400X total (40X x 10X).
