HEY ED!! My Solocofi Fry!!

Here are my babies Ed ~ and everyone else who cares:) The first pic was when they were born which was my birthday ~ the 13th and then I took some today and a few days ago ~ the close up really blue adult is the Mom and the Dad is in the main tank ~ Mom is too now ~ has been for a while ~

There must be at least 30 babies in this tank ~ The tank is so in need of a good cleaning but i sucked up a few fry the other day:( Ryan told me how to avoid that now tho:p

Sometimes you can see the blue coming out too! There is one with a flake in itz mouth! Have to look really close tho ~ Thanks for peeking!

And their blue does show up sometimes in different lighting heh? They color up way faster than say ..... a discus, don't they (not to diss a discus or anything:D )?

I have arrived:D Nice to see the babies Marie, obviously your a proud mom!! Once they grow a little bit more you can trade them with another hobbyist or see if a store near you wants to trade, buy them or you can get credit for them!

Africans seem to be those fish that sort off suck you into the hobby even farther( Yes, even though they are not discus) so be careful;) . I see another, even bigger tank in the near future:D

BTW, that last pic is very nice, like they are being introduced into the world:D .
Like I said before you are solely responsible for rekindling my interest in africans, since I got somewhat bored with them. I need to get a camera to show you the projects I'll be working on, it might take a while since money has been getting tighter this days and not to mentioned that a new sales tax will be applied for the first time in the island:mad: in November. We'll see how people adjust to it:inquisitive:

I do have a lfs that will buy them for like seven dollars a pop ~ but they need to be much bigger! Ya think? I don't know how long I can keep them all in a ten gal either~

I am getting kinda bored with my community tank too:( I want Fontosas ED so bad!

Wow, SEVEN dollars? Isn't this their retail price Marie? Are you sure they are going to pay you SEVEn dollars each? If so I am going to get the cichlid farm I was dreaming last night up and running. The interest in Africans in the island is booming like crazy, but they won't pay higher than $5.99 for Socolofis sp.

Ah, Frontosa Marie they are really nice and addictive too!! But you'll need at least a 125g for a successful colony! Isn't funny that either SA or Africa we still choose cihlids that like to hang in a school and have crazy price tags. Remember those Fronts I told you about in the other thread, you don't even want to guess what the collector was asking for each or for the lot, lets just say I could have gotten close to a dozen or more HIGH quality discus for the same money and don't even get me started in the tropheus. They were not that pricey per fish but, since you need a nice and big colony (20-25 is good) arghhhhh....$$$$:mad:
I'm still going to do it though, it will only take longer!!!;) :D

Ya know I think that is the retail price Ed ~ I have that wrong I think! My friend in Canada has baby Aspistos...sp? She has like 40 of them and they will pay her something like $20- a fish! Can you believe that?

I know that you need a big tank for Fontosas:( That is the reason I don't have any ~ I have a friend who is a Mod at Sc Sd's sister site and at my African site .....she lives near me....Ed she has the most beautiful Fontosa tank! I can sit in front of it forever ~ In Planted tanks I posted a pic once~
