Hi all,
I have never really seen large and well shaped fish that belong to the groups of various Ghosts, nebulas, calicos etc.. I think this is in part why they have been my least favorite ( if it were possible for me not to like a discus!) group.

When I see these fish they look small , often with a shape that appears almost footballish... I have never seen any that were massive and most seem to breed, at very small sizes. Those that I know that have gotten them young often find that they didn't grow out quite as planned.

Just wondering what everyones experiences are with them..and asking for pics... Who is raising them these days and what are your thoughts on these fish...

Thanks,
al

Hi Al,

I have seen some huge and well shaped Ghosts, Nebulas and Calicos over the years. One that left me with the most vivid impression was when I visited Stan Farm in Malaysia a couple of years back. They had the biggest collection of Nebulas at that time. They had well over 1000 tanks and 30-50%of the total number tanks were used to hold Nebulas. Its just too bad back then I didn't snap photos of these beautiful specimens. Otherwise, I would post them here. But, if you would take my word for it, there are indeed some nice big ghost, nebula and calicos out there.

Though perhaps there are not many hobbyist who keeps this strain now, but i hope to see some discus collectors posting some nice pics of them. :)

Regards,
Jeff

Hi Al,

I googled Stan Farm but no luck there.

It is a pity that they shut their operations a couple of years back due to some internal dispute. At best, you can see some juvie pics of nebula in the website that Kurt found, http://www.nebuladiscus.com/

I don't see pics of adult nebula there though. :(

Regards,
Jeff

Here is a pic of my ghosts that were from my very FIRST spawn several years ago. They were throwbacks from my "wattley" brilliant pair.

I have seen decent sized ghosts posted on the forums over the years... Rod, where is that picture of your old blue ghost? That was always one of my favorite pics.

There were some decent sized adults in pics from Singapore when the Nebula first appeared on the forums a few years ago, but I haven't seen anyone here in the States with decent sized adult calicos/nebulas. Carol, how big did yours eventually grow?

This one Ryan?

I bought mine as silver dreamer discus i can't remember how long ago. They were my wifes favourite discus. In my fish room back then i had sky lights in it and the sd tank was right below one of the skylight. They would look supurb in this tank, i even bred them a few times but nobody liked the pale looking fry.

Hi Al,
Here is one from Aquarama 03. I don't remember seeing any discus smaller than 5-6 inches so I think this one was a biggie too.
