Chris, I would go ahead and start introducing them to bh (shaved) and anything else you want to feed them. It might take them a little while to start eating it but they should eventually start. Goody luck. Got any pictures?

Not sure what other expert would recommend .. but here's what I use

-- First 3 or 4 days, nothing ... let the baby feed off the parent
-- At the 5th day, use "First Bite" powder and Golden Pearl (100 micron)
-- At 10 days, use Golden Pearl (100 micron) and limited BBS (I can't hatch sucessfully)
-- At 15 days, use Golden Pearl (100 and 200 micron), limited BBS, and introduce chopped frozen blood worm
-- At 3 weeks, use Golden Pearl (100, 200 & 300 micron), limited BBS, and more chopped frozen blood worm, and a few ColorBits.

This is where my frys are at now. They eat a lot and quite often.

From about 3/4 weeks I used powdered Earthworm flakes and Tetra Prima ground using a small pepper mill as well as the BBS.......

A small sized offering of what the parents were eating..........

I start with bbs on Day 4 and beefheart on Day 20. They really explode in size once you start them on beefheart.

Chris, you don't have to feed bh, most breeders do as its cheap and high protein. If you feed frozen blood worm, earthworms and a quality flake or pellet food, along with say mysis then you can still get good growth.

The biggest thing you need to do is make sure you feed them alot of nutritional food. Yes IMO bh does make them grow faster but they will still grow up nice and healthy with other items.
