Took Off Filter ~ [Archive]

In a sponge thread I said I took off my Odyssa Filter ( I think I spelled that wrong ) and went to just using the two Hydro Sponges in the tank ....

My water is not crystal clear anymore ~ and is cloudy ~

Is there a connection? Will this happen all on my tanks if I just go to sponge filters?

Removing the one filter also removed some good bacteria in that colony. Your other sponges will catch up shortly and clear the water.

A sponge filter will definately not do as good of a job as a power filter for mechanical filtration.

The only good use I'v ever found for the Marineland Magnum is it makes a great mechanical filter for larger tanks when it has the micron cartridge in it - good for pushing the UV lights too... that's about it
