UUURRGGHHH !!!

I noticed that my water pressure was dropping on my RO unit, so today I have just changed the sediment filter. This is what I found. It was quite horrible to think that the water that we drink on a daily basis is filled with this crud. It's only when we filter the stuff we finally get to see what we digest.

May need to change the carbon too, if chlorine gets to the membrane its toast.

yup, when we lived in rural ontario, our well water had alot of iron in it, filter looked just like that

Mine was worse, until I put it after my whole house filter. You should see the whole house filter, though. Ugghhhh! Once every three months it's pretty much a pile of muck.

I must be very lucky, although my water is very hard, it must be very clean too, my pre-filters never get like this. I only change them when I change carbons because the prefilter is so cheap.
