Would it be correct to state that a pair that produces wigglers is a proven pair or ... must the pair raise fry before they can be considered to be a proven pair?

I would call it a proven pair and if you are thinking about selling just * saying they have not carried fry yet.

I agree. They would be considered a proven pair in my book. You get wigglers so you know you have a confirmed male and female.

I would call them a confirmed pair...you know you have a male and female. Proven pair in my book is where they have carried fry successfully.

yup works for me
They are a proven pair once they have wigglers. Some people still do artificial raising of the fry.

The main problem I see with that description, is there are no guarantee's when buying, trading, etc...a pair that have successfully carried fry.
Minor stresses can change a successful pair, into eesob's in a hurry.
