Hello Everyone,

I would like to know how many discus I can safely have in a 150 gallon tank with the measurment's 48L X 24W X 30H. I have 7 discus in the tank with 3 cory cats, 10 neons and 1 pleco. I am running a Eheim Pro 3 capable of handling up to a 320 gallon tank. I am adding a 36 watt turbo twist UV light to the tank as soon as I get a chance. I clean and change out 50 gallons of water once a week. So how many discus is safe for this tank.

Thanks

Snuffy

The basic rule for adults is 1 per 10 gallons, 1 per 15 is better.... However, if you up yoru wc's to at least 50gals 2x/week and throw another filter on for safety you can easily do 20.

I had a 75 with 10 adults, FW ray, 3 large clowns, a dozen cories, and a couple of pleco's for years with no problem. But, you have to be willing to keep up with the daily WC's

Like Bill says the key is in the diligence you do your w/c with. Slack on them and even 1 becomes too many! 2 x 50gals a week would be ok for 10 to 15 imo. Always err on the light side though.
