I have purchased some cardinals, cories, plecos, and rams to put in with my discus. What length of time and what steps should I take to ensure a safe transfer to my discus tank? Should I medicate or just observe?

I quarantine all new fish that are going to be with my discus for at least 4 weeks. I dont medicate at all unless i see a problem. It helps if you know where they all came from and if the source is usually reliable. If there is an issue, it should show up within 4 weeks.

I also agree with Chris, 4 weeks minimum and don't medicate unless you need to.

I don't usually mix non-discus with discus, but when I did I treated the non-discus as I would the discus.. for example...It doesn't make sense to me to de-worm discus only to mix them with fish that I didn't deworm:)

additionally just as with new discus...you may want to use a sacrificial lamb... add a test discus to the new non-discus tank after the QT period...and then watch a minimum 2 weeks from that point.
