E-mail Phil Tucker - philtucker@comcast.net
Phil raises them, Paul Scarborough ships them.
They are a great team with good prices.
Very satisfied with service.

Hi 1977. I raise both the longfin and standard fin albino bristlenose plecos and have them in all of my discus tanks. I have standard finned ones ready to go now and the longfins will be ready in about 2 weeks or so. You can e-mail me at amyersjr@stny.rr.com if you are interested.

Also, Steve Rybicki at Angels Plus is another "clean" source for plecos. You can visit his website at www.angelsplus.com and click on the "other fish" link.

If you're in Chitown - I just ordered some L59 bushy nose from Brazil.

They need to go through QT, but if all works out will be ready by the first week of Feb.

After reading Ryan's post, I contacted Chrisb and bought myself 10 BN's. This was my first time buying mail order fish and Chris made it a nice and easy experience. He even threw in a couple extra.

I moved 1 of my breeding pair's out of thier 20 gallon to use that tank as a QT for these BN's and within a few hours the tank was completely spotless. They cleaned the air tubes, thermometer, lift tube (inside and out) from the sponge filterand even all the planaria was gone.

Just an update.

I took these guys out of quarantine and placed 2~3 in each of my tanks.

These guys are awesome. I highly recommend BN's for any discus enthusiasts’.

One note. I place 2 of these guys into my blue ss breeding tank and after a day or so I noticed one missing. Turns out the male SS bit the head off of this BN :(.

No BN's in that breeding tank.

The BN may also eat your eggs so I would not recommend putting them with your breeders.

I do not sell them but "Chris" here on the forums does. I bought from him. They arrived the day he promised, put extra BNs in my order for free and they are AWESOME! I didn't lose a single one.

I got 13 small BN from Chris and 12 made it. I think the tiniest one was killed by some of my other fish. The other 12 are outstanding fish. After QT I put all 12 in my 55 gallon with the discus (because they are small still) and they keep the entire tank spotless. I haven't wiped down my tank since. They not only clean the bottom and the sides, but they also keep the heaters, airline tubing, and plastic bits of the Hydro sponges clean.

A word of warning to those that clean sponges during w/c... A couple nights ago I plopped my sponges into the tub to squeeze them out and plecos went everywhere! I guess they hid in the sponges during w/c and when I went to rinse them, out came the plecos. I managed to scoop them up and return them to the tank. Everyone's okay.

They eat everything that I feed my discus and they're growing well. I don't know why I waited so long to try some of these guys!

Good advice Ryan. The other thing to be cautious about is bristle nose hiding in driftwood or fake plants when you take decorations out of your tank for cleaning. I have a big piece of wood with lots of nooks and cranies. I found a BN hiding in the wood (and out of the tank for 30 minutes). Amazingly, he survived. They are pretty tough.

I live in Seattle and have been looking to get some for my tanks, but can't seem to find any at reasonable price from LFS. Does anyone live around here have some to sell?
