What are the dimensions of both? Where are you going to put it? Visualize the tank in the spot. Will you be having a canopy on it? If yes I personally like the taller tanks with those, shorter tanks make it look like all wood and no tank.

Am getting the dimensions in a bit. I think they both come with the canopy. I am thinking about 20 discus with bout 50 to 70 percent water change.

the first one is tall 48" x 25-1/2" x 75-1/4" high. The other one is long 72 x 18 x 29 ).

height of the tank without the canopy and stand? That's the dimensions of everything :) Also is that of the tall? 4ft seems short for a long.

Is this the one you're looking at?

LOL, where are you going to put it, how will either look in your room? Personally, I like the talls, but then you can't put as many fish in them (water surface area)

Also consider cleaning, that is pretty tall, and what type of lighting you'll use.

The one I would have bought if I didn't get the room divider and put the tank against the wall would have been this one:

In cherry :). Saw the 180 in person and it's sweet :)

There is too much wasted space in a tall tank when you are housing discus. Long tanks are far better.

I have a tall 120 gal..yea the fish look nice in there but trying to clean the bottom of the tank is a huge PAIN...you need arms like a gorilla...IMO stay with the long...

I'm glad Tina provided that link since the dimensions on the one tank would make it just under 400 gallons! I agree that a less high and less deep tank is much easier to maintain.

Hi guys thanks for the feedback am going to get the one you guys are telling me about am looking at 450.00 new with stand lights the works... You guys think I should go a little bigger like maybe 180g or 200g the price aint that much of a difference keep in mind this is going to be bb for growouts. Maybe later when they get older i will make it a planted tank....;p

I agree with Mat. I have a 60 gallon cube tank in our office and it's a lot of wasted space for the angelfish I have in it. A longer tank would be better than a taller one for discus. Go with the 72" x 18" x 29".

Hi Carlos,
Go with the long tank as Matt already recommended, more surface area(more Discus) also Discus are
mid to bottom swimmers(got the picture).

Every tank I ever got led me to the same conclusion: I need a BIGGER tank! If you can afford the 180-200, go for it! You have more options and it is a terrifc size for a planted!

I have the tall one myself, and although I love my tank, next time I will get the long. I'm 5'4" and use a step ladder for my cleaning chores, but still cannot get my hands to the bottom, unless I go for a swim! The long plants doo look kewl though, and the discus do use the whole tank, top to bottom.
