hmmm... a dumm question. Why would you want to cover all 4 sides?

I know some breeders who used to cover all sides of a pair's tank when they had eggs/fry. They would leave a little hole to peep through. I'm not sure if this is to give them privacy and keep them from being startled, or if maybe it helps the fry find the parents better when they go free-swimming, or maybe there's even another purpose. But I've heard of it being done.

I cover all 4 sides of my tank when I'm doing things that would scare the heck out of my fish. For instance, a few weeks ago I had a new bed delivered and it had to be set up in the same room as my fish. I knew strange men walking in and out with mattresses would send the fish crashing into the glass, so I covered the entire tank while they were here.
