Where do you get it from? I tried two grocery stores so far with no luck. What sould I be looking for if and when I finally find some to be sure its good. Is it ok to just use frozen bh thats thawed out then add additional ingredients?

Thanks

Hello Ringo...

Many super markets carry sliced beefheart in their gourmet or specialty foods section of the meat department. Just about all meat markets in or around cities carry the whole hearts. Its usually cheaper per pound to buy it this way.
Where are you from?......and don't say Liverpool....:D

Hi Squiggy,

I live in Lombard, Illinois. And I'm still searching for some.

Alot of grocery stores do not carry beef heart because it is not in very high demand. If you will ask one of the butchers in the meat department they can actually order you whole hearts. These are easier to slice then the prepackages they put out on the shelf. IME

You can ask the butcher for the delivery day, or you ask if you can preorder
the whole heart.

Walmarts in Washington State carry the Excel Brand of BH.
Cut up into slices. Very easy to clean. Love it.
If you ask the butcher at most grocery stores they will order it for you.

If you can't find anyone local to order it for you, Chicago Meats on Cicero in Chicago has whole hearts.

Ringo, Myers and Walmarts (Sams) have beefheart. You have to ask for it . Mexican small meat stores carry it too. .
