I've been on the receiving end of 1-inch fry in breather bags with disastrous consequences. All fry were DOA. I suspect the culprit was a powerful heatpack sapping all the oxygen in the box and in the fish's water. Thus the fry suffocated, ironically, in the breather bags.

If you try the breather bags, you might want to locate the heat pack outside the styro.

i think i heard bad results also. stick to oxygen and water and a bag. out of all the shipments ive ever received..i rarely ended up with a doa. so if it aint broke..dont fix. maybe try it on guppies...or try one out on a cull see how it goes. pack a box..let it sit for 24 hours..then open it to see how it went.

Heatpacks out side the styro makes not much sence, make a hole in the lid put the heatpack over hole (inside the box) the heatpack will get Oxi from out side and keep on working, news paper over the bags to transfer the heat.

I don't trust breather bags for my Discus,

Hans

Hans is correct. Experienced shippers provide an airhole when using heat packs.

It is best not to try shipping any fish with spines in breatheable bags.

They work just fine with with any other fish.
