Only for draining, but... :p

I've found using one for draining multiple tanks is so much easier and quicker than using just a pump and drain, thanks to the fact that the python continues sucking even when the tubes are out of the water.

I start with one tank, change the tube.. do another, change the tube.. do another, etc, etc, etc. NO restarting the syphon every time, regardless of how long it takes me to unscrew the connectors and re-attach a different tube :)

By using it solely for draining, and, by using a separate tube for each tank, I avoid cross contamination issues and save myself a good amount of time :)

If only I had a utility sink in the fish room :( As it is, I have to use the one in the laundry room and use a long hose, but hey.. it works

I love my python. I use it for filling too.

I take it you are using the water pump? I do have a sink and drains in the fishroom, I can drain a 75 gallon in 5 minutes, but I do drain the upstairs tanks with a Python. It works great but is pretty slow.
