Hi everyone,

This is my first post just to say Hi.I recently ordered my first discus I have never had them before and should get them next week.If anyone has any advise for a first timer it would be great.I have heard that their requirements are much like those of the uaru cichlid.I have had 3 uarus for 2 years and they have done very well so I have decided to give discus a try.I ordered 5 german turks last week.I am excited and very nervous.Thanks for any advice in advance.

Welcome to SD...read up before the "new babies" come! I know nothing about uaru cichlid..so hopefully someone with that knowledge will chime in!

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new discus when they get here. Just remember 2 things when you get them, make sure the tank you put them in is cycled and make sure you quarentine them for 3 weeks before introducing them to any other fish.
