About a week or so ago, somone posted a British fish food web site on one of the threads here. It had pictures of the flakes in vibrant color, and lots of interesting variety, and the prices were in English currency. If anyone remembers the company or the web site, could you post it again. I'd like to give that fish food a try, but i cannot find it.:book:

Thanks, but that is not it. This site I'm thinking of had vibrant illustrations of the flakes poured out from the containers. They did ths with numerous types of flake food - it was very impressive!!! Noteworthy was that all of the prices were in English currency.

Thanks,

jack:bandana:

I'm sure Paul must know this product. Tetra has a new product called professional fish flakes. The colours are really bright but my discus are not impressed.

To be honest Jack they're fairly new to me as well, seems good stuff though .... I ordered the eathworm, garlic and spirulina flake. Earthworm goes down paticularly well, which I usually mix in with the beefheart and occasionally with the turkey heart. .... http://www.discusfishuk.com/discusfishforum//style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

Eileen : I don't understand the Euro either ... but no matter .... we use the British Pound.... http://www.discusfishuk.com/discusfishforum//style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

1.00 USD = 0.504875 GBP

okay, just tried to order. The beefheart flake costs 14.95 /3.17 oz. plus s& hand. Isn't that kinda high? Is there anyplace here this stuff can be purchased? If anyone orders, let me know how they like it. I realllly want to try this but there r some things my little guys won't eat so I am tired of spending $ on things that go to waste. Thanks

I have tried the Beefheart and the Brine Shrimp flake from TA.....

Mine still seem to prefer the Earthworm Flakes someone on ebay imported from www.kensfish.com in the US. Your US prices seem much cheaper for us here in the Uk even with the shipping !!!

I think the 1lb US size is roughly equivalent to 200 grammes.....(£10/$20 for 2 x 90gm versus $7.50 for 1lb)

Well Dave and Jeff, you are right; with shipping the British food is too expensive.:bomb: I was told to try Ken's Fish also, and I now await a sizeable package from them. I'll post when I find out how my :fish: respond.

Who are the big breeders over there, by the way? Is availability of strains good?

Best,
Jack

Jack

I don't believe we have any 'big' breeders here in the UK......

There are plenty of hobbyist breeders........

The big sponsors of the UK Discus Association are mainly importers with Discus coming from the Far East, Malaysia, Taiwan and Stendker fish from Germany.....

That's too bad about the flake food Jack.

With regards the big breeders ... there aren't really any. There's lots of " cottage industries " ... but no big breeders as such ( not that I'm aware of anyway ).
We have probably 6 or 7 major discus dealers thoughout the UK who import generally from the Far East or Germany and all strains are readily available of quality fish.
Good sources for wild fish though are at a premium and very difficult to find ... probably the same the world over. .... http://www.discusfishuk.com/discusfishforum//style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif

I've tried their veggie wafers and veggie sticks (along with their discus food) has anybody else found that it fouls the water fast? I have to feed quite a bit to the plecos in their tank though.

I've also had good luck with Florida Guppies Plus food.
