The one that layes the eggs is the female, and the one that make them fertile is the male..Untill you see this it would only be just a guess at what they are..

Really about all one can do is guess until an actual pair spawns and the eggs hatch.

Your wild fish are pretty but will still need quite some time of TLC before they can attain breeding condition. I would expect them to take about a year of life in captivity before they spawn. That has been my general experience. I have had some wild fish spawn within four months and others that took eighteen months. When that time arrives, behavioral clues will help you make educated guesses. And that is really about all it boils down to.

It looks like you have enough fish of two species to have a statistically good chance of getting at least one pair. The greens do not readily cross with the blues especially when they have potential partners of the same species sharing the tank. The greens are also a bit more difficult to breed, in my experience, than the blues. In the meanwhile, I'm sure they will be the source of much pride and joy to you.

Hello,
thanks for the answer. In fact I was affraid to have not enough females in the tank. That's why I ask this in order to know if, for my next buy, I must espacially look for female-looking discus.

Thanks

Oli

PS: by the way, i apologise for my bad english

Milo,
i would say you have a few females in there,as larry said they need some conditioning to get them up to breeding condition some nice looking wilds there all the best with them.

Hello,

thanks for answers. By the way, what does TLC means?

Thank you

Oli

Hi,
TLC= tender loving care. basically these wilds need to have lots of good food and water before you are likely to see any spawning.

Depending on the source of your wilds, some can be in transit or holding tanks for weeks or months.. so its not uncommon to receive them thin, ragged and in need of TLC:)

Good luck,
I think you have some females in there, but as with domestics...you can be fooled...best bet... let nature pair them up for you and enjoy!

take care,
al
