Enjoy! I did!!! Thanks Walter!!!
Hi Walter,

You actually got to sit next to an orangutan? or was that a digital add in?

I'd really enjoy making that trip some day.

Thanks again!

(oddly enough the local Singaporean restaurant here in my area does NOT have chilli crab!)

Yes, you can sit next to an orangutan at the zoo (they ask for a donation which was only about $3.30US, how could I pass that up?). You just have to make sure you are there at the right time (they have a breakfast time and a feeding time).

Here's a link to the page at the Singapore zoo with the Orangutan feeding times and info:

http://www.zoo.com.sg/spotlight/orangutan.htm

There a couple of other areas where you can go right up to the animals (I didn't dare touch them though - they are still wild as far as I know); one section was their Outback display and a kangaroo was literally less than 3 feet away from me, another section had a ring tailed lemur also less than 3 feet away.

Now you did it...I MUST go! Apparently Singapore's Liability Laws are much looser than in the US ;-) So cool to sit with the orangutan!!! And the food looks DELICIOUS!

Thanks for sharing the fun photos.

Actually Singapore does have a lot of rules/ laws (and steep fines if you break them), but if you're well-behaved, it won't be a problem. It IS clean and safe and I found the people there to be very friendly, in fact one time I hadn't noticed that I dropped my wallet while changing some money and a gentleman tapped me on the arm and pointed that out to me.

Here's a sign in their subway station (MRT)

We're known to be a very "fine" city for a reason ;)

Thanks for the great pictures!

Do they have a lot of cable cars over there? What do you think of them?
Are they used much?

Traffic is a huge issue where I live and they are ready to tax us out of our homes here with their tolls, gas taxes, property taxes, because of their inability to plan for growth in the past and now.

The cable cars are just for Sentosa as far as I know (and there are other ways to get to that island too).

Walter- It is always fun to see the rules/laws of other countries. I can't imagine not being able to eat on the subway! ;-)

Funniest sign/posting I saw was in Hong Kong "No Chewing Gum" and another was "No Spitting"!!!

Thanks for the tour Walter. It's a beautiful city. I love seeing the zoo animals in such natural looking habitats. I am floored that you can sit next to a orangutan. That would just NEVER happen here.
This will probably show my ignorence but what are "durians"? I'm guessing solicitors?

All you have to do is www.google.com (http://www.google.com)

Here's an article on wikipedia.org:

Hope that helps.

Hi Walter, love and appriciate the pics!!They are really tempting me for a trip!!

Guess what, we have durians here in the island!!! They are not called durians here though, and are def not as popular, they are actually becoming almost a rarity that the older crowd enjoys! I recognized it from the pick The name we use translates roughly to " pitted(or seeded) breadfruit" I did not know the're origin though, Europeans most of brought them here.

I'm guessing the reason its not allowed in the subway is because of the strong odor(stink is more like it) they have, just don't ask what they do to your digestve system:p
