Hey Noob...
A forced pairing is when a known male is put together with a known female that haven't bonded naturally. This way, rather than breeding any two fish that pair up, you can choose which two fish you think compliment each other and will produce the desired results. It works about 70% to 80% of the time when both fish are experienced breeders.

You definitely can't actually force discus to pair up. The only way is to have a proven male and female together and hope nature takes it's course. They are either compatible or not and there is no other way. That is like having someone force you to have sex with a 800lb person, you won't do it no matter how much someone forces you. :D You get the idea?

Scott, that might be offensive to very heavy people. You know , sometimes they have no control of their obesity.
I guess those people do not deserve to have a sex life !!

Thats why I mentioned 800lbs because you aren't going to find many that are that heavy, definitely not out to offend anyone thats for sure.

Ok, then its like someone forcing you to mate with the stinkiest person you have ever met. lol. Point is, they wont do it unless they want to.

try holding a gun up to the tank (safety on please)... or hold up some cooked salmon or something like that!

I find threatening them into sexy time is best.

Yep, I'm on board with everyone here, like a shark bite or getting hit by lightning, placing 2 unkown fish together and getting them to breed.
Like getting a hole-in-one!

Thats why all suggest to start with 5-6 in a tank to get a pair.
