Just received a surprise today regarding these red covers, I heard about them but they were well hidden in his brother's hatchery and I was unable to take any pictures during my Asian trip in May/2007 and now the fish are resting in his apartment.
These discus are not for sale and for his collection only.

Hi Dan,
The Red Covers have been in the tank for approx. 4 days and they are still stressed, wait till later when they are properly settled in plus a brighter light, just don't know what to say afterwards and what they will look like.

OK, what's the difference between Wayne's 3R2s and the red covers?

OK, what's the difference between Wayne's 3R2s and the red covers?

Tina

The Original Red Golden Diamond (RGD) was developed by Ung Seng Lip of Penang, Malaysia. The original discus used is a pure golden with no blue lines or striations. The RGD is the red version of this, and thus has 100% no pigeon-blood genes. Nowadays there are too many version of RGD's that are bred in the market by some breeders by using pigeon based fish.
Wayne's original stock came from Lip and he recrossed them with another strain and he named them as 3R2.
Red Covers or San Merahs are basically brown based fish, upgraded by the breeders for more red on them.

Hi Fishgirl,
The Red Covers are not albino's but If you are referring to the albino RGD's, what I have they are still too young and I may give them a try this Fall and see what happens.
Thanks
