Single Discus Defending an area?

I have 8 discus in the tank...
1 of it always stay at the edge of the tank and when the other discus
swim to there, it will try to chase them away...

(Look like this is a process after 2 discus pair up.. HOWEVER.. there is only one .. )
Why?

I would say that is where that fish feels comfortable and doesn't want anybody else in that area. This is also what they will do when they want an area for a breeding spot. If this is a female are you sure she hasn't laid eggs there?

um... i am not quite sure if that's a female...
but till now, I have not seem any eggs..
