I was just looking at my tank...since I only have one discus tank now, I think I get bored quicker!:p ( but I have some new additions soon:) )

I need some new ideas....I have the red Soil Master in now and I have gone to sand a few times...might go back...

Guess I could go bb for a while ~ but don't want to really ~ I was going to use that sand spray, but I can not take this tank out side empty to spray it on...so that is out!

Any ideas? Not much left.....

Hey, Marie, I just went barebottom and definitely love it. I had that same root and it looks pretty lifelike but it doesn't get you the look of the real stuff. I'll shoot you some pics soon.

Here are the pics:

Um, seriously Marie? I kinda like your current one:)

How about Estes natural gravel 3mm in size, sand color sand characteristics, but a can be syphon and cleaned

How about going for the real Rio Negro sand? Pricey but really pretty, natural, and biotipical

Jose I was going to say, what a shame BB after it was such a beauty! But the fish seriously look much better and it doesn't look bad at all!

Frank called me and told me NOT to mess with my substrate! lol! Everytime I do I call him whining that I have a bacterial bloom and cloudy water! But I have only one tank, DEB....and I am bored!

( but I added two new toys:)

Marie, I think I will keep my natural look coarse sand, it is easy to clean, plus, I don't want to stir up the laterite under it. I think that would be bad. I just want a different layout of the wood and plants. It's been this way for 2.5 years now, time for a change. I have an arched driftwood log I found at the river, think its cypress. But getting that big branchy piece out will be a chore. The fish will hate me for a while too. I will need to net them and put 'em in tubs for the day.

Hi Marie,
I love your tank as it is.
I do get the whole bored thing though ;)
I was reading around the forum and came across the stone paint posts, well that was it, I had to try it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I painted one of my empty 120ltre tanks on the bottom with it and painted the back blue...........ended up putting 2 of my discus in this tank..........I love it.
Anyway I am looking forward to pics of your new fish.
Nicole.

Hey You! See I went from three 55gal and one 40gal to one 55gal:( Life happens, ya know....anyhoo ~ you did the stone paint, Nic? Omg! And where are the pictures? I would so do that, but it would be such a hassle to drain and what?.........set the discus on a shelf? lol! How come there are no pictures yet? hmm........?

Don't make me come there:D

Marie ~ Yeah too much stuffing around for you to use stone paint....It was just madness for me ;) I came across those posts and had to see what it looked liked, plus I liked the idea of doing some painting.
So I have posted pics, I have methblue in the tank for the eggs so pics aren't that good....but it's not to bad for my first go at using the stone paint and for a girl with no patience. I have one more empty tank and I'm going to have fun on that one. paint...paint...paint.
Cheers ~ Nicole

Wow!! That looks pretty sweet. Iwish I would have seen that the last time I drained my tank. I don't want to pull the fish out of the tank again so it'll have to wait a while. What brand paint is it, where'd you get it? What's it made of, acrylic, latex? Will have to do to my other tanks as I put them together for sure :D
