are these products worth getting?

do they soften the water?

I use Discus Buffer to control my Ph at 6.5.

Some people don't like it. If you want to breed your discus, I don't think you should use it.

My tap water comes out at 7.8 and goes to 8.3 in 24 hours. My discus did not like the pH swings every time I did the water change. I had to limit the amount of water I change each time because of that. Finally after using the Discus Buffer, I can do 80% water change at a time without bother the discus.
