Hi guys, I purchased frys 2 months ago, 8 pcs. all are around an inch. I have this one guy and this is its picture a month ago

Now, its showing some patterns, only a little on the fins and on the body. Is it already possible to identify its strain since the source I got it from wasn't very clear? Here is its most recent picture.

because........of?........the striations on the juvie but not the other picture, Andrew? Is that why you think these are two different fish? If it was not for the striations, hell I would not be able to ascertain a/the difference.....so teach me:p

I agree with Andrew, the two fish pictured certainly do not appear to be the same fish. The first one looks as though it is probably a Cobalt, the second one I honestly am not sure about.

Marie,
Beside the obvious color difference, (which admittedly could be nothing more than a different light source) look at it's fins. The dorsal and anal fins are very differently shaped, the ventrals are also quite different. Also note the eye placement, they are different. The stress bars in the first photo and the total lack of them in the second, while certainly possible, I still find improbable.

Well, this is the only difference I can obviously see! I looked and looked, Larry and the eye looks in the same spot to me:( The top fins in the first pic do look higher....

But I do recall when you thought I had two BD too....remember? lol!

I mean, I believe you and Andrew, totally ~ I just wonder if I will ever see it:(

oops...forgot to address this:o Now re the color difference, could that not be normal as the second picture is when the fish is much older if I recall....so color would not necessarily be an issue?

Or no? lol!

Yup...two months older....

The lighting guys are different. The first picture I took when it was in a smaller tank and I didnt put the lights on. The second pic was taken with a flourescent(a little pink)aquarium light, but for sure guys this is the same fish. The first pic was taken when it was still around 1.5", now it is around 2.5". Just want to know guys, maybe from its looks from the second pic what strain it might be turning out to be.

I would guess colbalt or turq but I could be wrong. Can you take a picture with the flah on or better lighting to get the real color of the fish.

Ok, I'll try to get some picture without the lights on and use flash.
