Is it true that discuses don't spawn and raise fry as well if the water level is less than 18"'?Is 15" a compromise?
I just bought two used 50 gal tanks 15" high for breeding discuses. I could use it for something else, if there is a reason.
No, completely false. The water level in my breeding tanks range from 12" to 16" depth.

Mine has around 14-16" depth. When the fries started free swimming, I half the water depth.

I use 20 gallon tanks with no issues.

The tanks I am currently using are 16" high in total. I usually keep the water level 2" to 4" down and they spawn regularly.
