Hi, I have 7 young pigion blood discus, about 9 month old.
Two them has paired up, They are busy cleaning the spawning slate, and keeping the others away for the last 2 weeks.
I was wondering how long it would take untill they would start spawning.
thank you, John

They are rather young, be patient, it may take awhile, sometimes months at that age before they are mature and lay/fertilize the eggs. The spawns are usually small at the young age, they might have even layed eggs and eaten them already. My young pair took about 20 trail spawns before (we) got it right.

If they are only 9 months old I would wait a little while before I put them in a breeder tank. It normally takes a male approx 1 year to become fertile. You will just get frustrated when you don't see wigglers. However, on the other side I have had fish successfully spawn at around 9-10 months old.
