Hi,

I have a Canopy Lid for my tank, and I want to paint it. The paint that is on there is looking old and starting to chip away a bit. Is there a certain type of paint I should use that will not harm the fish? I bought the tank and it was already painted. I don't want to do anything to kill my fish, now or in the future do to the paint. Please help :) Thanks again all!

Sherwin Williams makes a 2 part epoxy enamel that can be used ,I have used it on my plywood tanks with no problem. It used to be called tile clad 2.

Todd-

I used Sherwin Williams Interior/Exterior Semi-gloss Alkyd Enamel (which may be custom tinted) on my entire stand and canopy (primed first with kilz). Holds up exceptionally well to water exposure.

No problems...just make sure you let it dry before using with your tank. I also have a glass cover under the canopy.

Here is the tank--even raised fry in it.
