HI EVERYONE. Here i am w another ?. When do u replace a sponge? I have one in for about 3 mo. When I squeeze it, it doesn't bounce back. Does this mean its old? How long do they last. Info would be great. I am about to order some stuff, so I will put this on my list if need be.
Thanks

I've got sponges here that are 2 yrs old, and they are over due for replacing. Yours are just getting broken in. Sometimes if they don't bounce back it's because they're full of gunk. I've also noticed that some are just made of softer sponge and don't hold their shape as well. If it feels somewhat heavy when your done cleaning it theirs probably still alot of waste in it. It should feel fairly light when done rinsing.

Your sponges should last you for many years. I have some that I use right now and they are 10 years old.

 This is so true. I had to replace both of my Hydro 4's after raising my group of Uaru because they mangled the sponges. My discus also went crazy with them when they started spawning but luckily they switched to the glass and heaters instead.

Otherwise, most sponges are sturdy and last a long time. I've had some of my Hydro sponges for a few years now.

Joe, they will eat everything. Adults will even attempt to chew up plastic plants. They eat a lot and like both veggie matter and meatier stuff.
