In my breeding set up i only use rain water and i have only recently found out that you need minerals in the water for your fish to survive so I am looking at what essentail minerals that discus need.

Pretty sure your rain water has everything you need as far as minerals go.

I agree with you: in your country you don't need to add any minerals in water. But I think that you can add vitamines in food. What are the valiues of your water?

there are near to no minerals in rain water. and our water is pretty good except that our house runs on bore water and it is high in hardnes and high in ph.

You would have to treat rain water the same as if it were RO water you will need to add something like RO right or one of the other freshwater aditives. You might be able to use alittle of the well water you have also..HTH

Rainwater has no minerals in it, it's just evaporated h20, the minerals don't evaporate with the water. That's why rainwater has a low pH.
