Forced pair!!

on Oct 1st I put a known female RT with a mature Stendker Royal Blue male (not proven) in a 20 gal breeder. This evening I noticed they are tending eggs. This is a first for me, my pairs have always selected their own partners. It is the first spawn for them so I will wait for tomorrow to see if they are fertilized, at that time I'll take a few pictures.

Yes good luck with them Tom. I often put two together successfully but I find that when pairs choose each other I experience less post spawning problems, such as eating of the spawn/wrigglers and fighting. However it is well worth trying if you have two that you want to breed.

Thanks Bob, they get along well, but they did eat the first spawn.
One thing I've learned, is patience..........

Like you said patient is the key with discus. I have forced known pairs before and had success. Sometimes on the first try other times it took several spawns. Keep us posted on you progress and good luck.
