With all of our barrels, tubes, heaters, powerheads, hoses, bottles, powders, airstones, pumps, medications, bbs cysts, salt, flakes, granules, filters, barrels, test tubes.....I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

My husband complains because our guest bathroom has 2~ 44 gallon brute garbage cans sitting in the bath tub, Prime and Discus Essentials in the soap/shampoo rack, not to mention a mag pump and 2~ 50 foot pythons on the counter beside the sink. Now what is wrong with that, I ask you?? The hose is rolled up! The shower curtain is pulled closed.... most of the time.

He really isn't too fond of the fact that the bathroom in my computer/fish room has 2~44 gallon and 1~32 gallon trash containers, 2~50 foot pythons, Prime and Discus Essentials in the soap/shampoo rack, AND reems of 1/4" tubing coming out of the fawcet curling down, around, and behind the loo and into the shower where it connects to a 5 stage RO/DI unit sitting on the shower seat, with tubes running into barrels with powerheads and heaters running day and night!

Just because we have 3 bathrooms and he can use only one isn't that big of a deal, is it??

And when my mother in law comes and thinks I use trash cans for laundry baskets, I don't correct her. After all, the "normal" people in this world, the non fish people, just don't get it!! Right!!??

Just because the furnace man was asking questions of my husband about what was "brewing" in the storage area of our basement was not cause for alarm, was it? After all, doesn't everyone successful businessman have a golden substance bubbling away in 2 litre bottles with heat lamps hidden away in the basement?? How could that hurt his reputatuion in town??

Last Christmas our house was on the holiday tour of homes in our town. I re~routed everyone way out around my Discus tanks with decorated trellis' so the fish didn't get too stressed out by 350 strangers staring and pointing at them. I'm so glad the public was not allowed to open closet doors!! LOL

When I take a step back and think about how I don't even notice these items and have furthermore developed an acceptance, even a love of all of these things in my home; and then I think about how my husband, being one of those "non fish people", has to put up with me and my fish habit; even bragging at parties about my beautiful fish like he actually participates in their physical care, I have to laugh, and think....WOW, I am married to a really great guy!!

Yes, but you probably don't like Harley Queens.

My husband thinks I'm mad getting all exicted about my fish tanks and watching them instead of the TV, and when I had my first spawn a couple of months ago that actually produced fry, His only comment was where are you going to keep all these fish when they grow up, I hope you don't think you are getting another tank.

Thats ok, my wife puts up with it good enough. I already have the 75g in the living room, the 85g in the family room and the 29g breeder in the dining room next to her fancy hutch, lol. When we move to oregon this summer, I am finally going to build the fish room. I am looking for a house with a basement and if not, my wife assured me that I can have a room for that purpose. We will see :o I'd better lobby for the basement because she will have memory loss when I try to move into the xtra room, lol. I hope the water in oregon (portland) or washington (vancouver) is better than cali. It all comes from rain water so it should be better right out of the tap (fingers crossed)

Gold Mountain Discus is a Discus Breeder in Port Orchard Wa.
I was tempted to stop in and see his fish when I visited my son while he was in the Navy. My son was stationed on Whidby Island, a short ferry ride away from Port Orchard. Beautiful country up there!! The mountains, the ocean...they have it all!

You know you are a mad scientist discus keeper when you buy a $500 microscope instead of discus. A microscope is essential equipment if you want to identify the disease organism that is killing your fish and for which there is no cure.
I could have bought another fly rod for that.
