From another thread... thank you Graham, a most interesting search.

I think it would be very enlightening if anyone has information about
ORP Meters(measures the Oxidation or Reduction Potential of the water)
to help determine if your discus environment is properly
balanced or if a water change or tank cleaning is necessary.

Seecher, there's not much that could be added to what Roddy wrote. I know him personally and have used info from him on SD before and while I don't agree with all his ponding practices, especially PP use and have argued a lot with him over the years...he is PhD in Chemistry and I rely on him for chem questions.

The one thing to remember about ORP is that anything that you do to the tank will affect the number...a water change will drop it initially only for it to rise a short while later....it'll drop an hour or so after feeding to raise again a short while later....an so on

They can drive you nuts buts they will tell you where your water is at


Somewhere on the site a poster has his tied into his computer and gets read outs...search around.
