Sponge Filter Seeding

How long will it take a new sponge filter to become saturated with bacteria supposing it is introduced into a fully mature aquarium?

I am not an expert in this area but I would leave it for about 1 week.

I'd say that it should be building beneficial bacteria within a couple weeks.
